Working onboard a ship is always courageous. Joining Yangze 8 back to 2017 was one of the best experiences. One day prior to Eid day the joining was confirmed and gave me a sense of how the seafarer career was involved with sacrifice when it was a call of duty. The port of joining was Lianyungang, China and took flight from Dhaka, Bangladesh to Qingdao, China with transit at Thailand. The world changed so fast from my home in Dhaka to my sailor life where I have to make a second home in MV Yangze 8. Ships are called she and meet my beast, my bae, my bitch at the port. I had no idea how my adventure experience was about to change. After roaming around a few ports in mainland China for a month, a new voyage was scheduled for South America. Departed from Shanghai, China and destination to Kingston, Jamaica, Port-Au-Price, Haiti, Roi Haina, Dominican Republic. Puerto Cortes, Honduras by taking the transit to Panama Canal. Every event was very significant at the sea, I would like to share my memorable experience onboard MV Yangze 8 during my voyage. To start with, working with a different set of nationality is always a great experience. At Yangze 8, I met a Chinese nationality crew onboard ship. It was a great opportunity to learn about Chinese culture, history, social norms and foods and I believe that I started my life long learning. Living on a merchant vessel can be a lonely experience but I took the opportunity to develop myself in every possible way, reading a lot of books, exercising or sitting alone watching the sea wave, listening to susurration and I thought about myself, thought about life, thought about a lot of things. When the ship approaches the deep sea, the internet on the phone disappears, no internet means no distraction.
